Visit of the Minister of Education

On March 23, 2018, the Minister of Education, Science and Culture for the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Birgit Hesse, visited the Card-ii-Omics research team to find out about the scientific issues they are working on. Her trip also took in other projects funded by the state's Excellence in Research program.

After receiving a brief introduction to their research, Ms. Hesse talked to the young scientists personally. The team gave a vivid presentation of their work illustrated by posters, medical measuring instruments and various other exhibits. Ms. Hesse and MP Dirk Stamer showed great interest in a transcatheter aortic valve (TAVI), which can be implanted under local anaesthetic. Afterwards, the visitors were able to follow the minimally invasive implantation of a TAVI live on the monitors of the modern hybrid operating room in the cardiology section of the University Medical Center Rostock.
